Passion is a strong, barely controllable emotion; a very powerful pull (pursuit) toward a purpose, goal, vision. Without passion, our pursuit in what God has in store for us would be lackluster. Timing is when something is going to happen! Timing is based on the past, present (now) and future (NEXT)! And then there is God’s timing. These dynamics of NEXTing along with purpose, vision, patience, stewardship, exhortation, wisdom, decisiveness and grace gives us the tools necessary to fully experience our NEXT in this world!

1. Ambition: An ardent (enthusiastic) desire to achieve a particular end.

a. In the dynamics of NEXTing, divinely given ambition keeps you hungry for the best that God has for you. It will help you to keep it moving when you are tempted to give in, give up, or give out. (pg. 141)

b. This passion/ambition is an internal driving force designed to and foster motivation and inspiration, so we work in cooperation with the purposes and plans God instilled in us before time!

c. Ephesians 1:3-5 AMP states, “Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ, just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—"

d. Jeremiah 1:5 MSG states, “Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that’s what I had in mind for you.”

***Question 1: Can you now recognize the purposes and plans instilled into you? How do the purposes and plans relate to your passion/ambition? ***

2. Timing: The ability to select the precise moment for doing something for optimum effect. A season when something is destined to happen.

a. With God, things happen in the fullness of time. The fullness of time is the right time, the appropriate time, or the time that has been appointed or ordained. (pg. 143)

b. Two types of timing

i. Chronos – General, chronological timing; sequential timing

ii. Kairos – The right time, the opportune time. This refers to the timing of God.

c. 2 Peter 3:8-10 AMP states, “Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day. The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish with a [mighty and thunderous] roar, and the [material] elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and the works that are on it will be burned up.”

***Question 2: How does trusting in the perfect timing of God contribute to peace and calm during life transitions?***

d. TRUST (Total Reliance Upon Spiritual Timing)

i. You must be able to trust in God…He is never late; He is processing us to get us to a point where the release can occur!

3. Takeaways

a. Our pursuit is a barometer on how passionate we are for our purpose!

b. This passion/ambition is an internal driving force designed to and foster motivation and inspiration, so we work in cooperation with the purposes and plans God instilled in us before time!

c. God has designed us to be purpose-driven and has plans for us that outdates our existence!

d. God’s timing supersedes chronological timing!

e. Experiencing NEXTing effectively requires utilizing the dynamics of NEXTing!
